What is SecureGateway?
SecureGateway is a security system used in modern vehicles to protect the vehicle's electronics from unauthorized access. The system acts as a digital firewall between the car’s external diagnostic port (OBD) and its internal network.
To perform advanced functions such as coding, programming, or certain service procedures, the technician must have special access – often through an authorized login.
Why does it exist?
The purpose is to prevent manipulation, protect against theft attempts, and ensure that only authorized individuals can change sensitive settings in the vehicle. It is an important part of modern automotive cybersecurity.
Which brands have SecureGateway, and from which model years?
Several car manufacturers have introduced SecureGateway in their newer models, such as:
Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge (FCA) – From around 2018
